What
is classic, can be easily modern and progressive as well. Mégane Classic, a new member of
the Mégane family, is a good proof for such a sentence. Mégane Classic got
its name after its classical body design. A
notchback characterizes this bodywork type usually
called "sedan". However, it is clear from the very first moment that such a "classics" has a lot of modern design elements and that the beauty of this car is very contemporary. Basic elements

Large luggage compartment is a classic sedan's well-known
advantage. Anyway, 510 dm3 of space offered by Mégane Classics is really outstanding. Its luggage
department can easily accommodate suitcases of a 5-member family going on holiday. This car also allows for the transporting of large loads thanks to
the 1/3 - 2/3 split of the rear
seats. Its transport abilities become even more transparent when you fold both the rear seats. Comfort is the most important
advantage of this car. Folding armrests of the rear
seats give a good example. You can be sure that the constructors did not put aside all the little things we need while
travelling.
Except
for the map case in front of the front passenger and pockets at the back of the front
seats Classic also offers a special storage space under the rear window. So you do not have to be afraid that your little things would roll all over the interior after the first
step on the brake...
Perfect security
An enormous number of components participate on the high level of accident prevention of this
car; from outstanding riding
characteristics and a perfect field of view to such a apparent details like
easy-to-operate ergonomic pedals. Improved Mac Pherson axle with L-formed suspension arm
in front and independent wheel suspension on tow suspension arms at the rear give the car
a perfect riding characteristics on level ground but also a good stability while driving
through the curve in a high speed. The braking system is well dimensioned, equipped by
regulator of brake pressure to rear wheels in subordinance to load. Brakes can be supplied
by ABS on demand.
The
car offers to the driver also a perfect field of view because of large glass area and slim
body pillars. Perfect ergonomic control elements and instruments are placed within the
driver´s reach and they are easy
to operate with. The driver has a perfect knowledge about all of the important facts and
he can concentrate on driving.
The crucial point
If the car happens to be in such a situation that it is not possible to
foil an accident, it is necessary to minimize its effect on
the passengers. In such a moment Mégane Classic appears to be the perfect car. Its system of accident protection elements takes care of the passengers´ safety. Mégane Classic had to pass about 60
crash tests in the Renault test centre before the start of its production.
The
System of programmed fastening is another important novelty which raised the car safety level. This Renault´s invention
takes an advantage of the results
of enormous number of accident analysis made by Renault´s research department. This
system represents an important novelty in safety belts operation. It blends in elements only rarely seen together. In case of an impact its
pyrotechnic pre-tensioners stretch the belt immediately and draw the passenger to the seat while maximizing
the safety belts effect. A special seat belt anchorage is another important part of the
system. It programmably controls the tension of the belt and it does not allow to extend the belt pressure to the
passenger´s chest and abdomen, which could oterwise raise its dangerous value. It is actually something
like a very effective dumper of the safety belt. Renault made another step on the way to the maximum safety of its cars.
The
bodywork structure is another important safety element. The passenger´s cabine represents
a stout core guarranting the passengers enough space to survive. This stout cell has on its front and rear crumple
zones. In case of impact these zones programmably warp and absorb a large part of the impact energy.
