A very humorous press conference where Renault presented officially a new Renault type range was just finished a couple of hours ago. A wild music etched in a great atmosphere where young people unpacked a new car type range from a huge parcel -- the Renault Thalia.
Renault Club CR has informed about existence of the Renault Thalia a long time ago before this model was officially presented by Renault importer to Czech Republic. We published an article about this topic at the beginning of last year. At that time, the Renault was known as Clio Symbol (click on this link and see relevant article).The only reason to choose the Thalia name was to differentiate this model from Clio range that has a lot of relations with. There is no wonder the Thalia comes from the Clio model. You won't be ever sure if is it the Clio or the Thalia that's just coming against you. Only when this car pass you or when you see the rear part of this car then you can definitively say, what was that car actually. The Renault was very motivated to develop a new model which would cover a missing part in a small car segment.
In compare to the Clio model, the most prominent change became a gradual rear part of the car that hides an extra-large luggage space of 510 litres. That is the same space which a Mégane Classic would offer. Its use for transportation of large loads is quite limited by a small load space. The Thalia model is longer by 378 mm than the Clio models so it was pulled up to 4,15 m. By the way, that is the same length as Scenic model has. Because of the safety, the Renault Clio got four stars in a NCAP destruction tests what caused that this car became an elite car of its car segment. Neither the Thalia model does leave anything related to a safety. It has a much more rigid frame, a driver's airbag as well as co-driver's one, seat belt pre-tensioners that reduce a thorax loading up to 40% when a front impact. An optional equipment contains a side airbags as well. Because of requirement for a higher active safety, an undercarriage was modified too. A basic version of the Renault Thalia "wears" tires of 175/65 R14 size that finally assist to better driving pleasure. New drawn brakes allow to faster and much more safe car stopping . It does contain an ABS system enlarged by an EDV electronic system that divides brake power and avoid the car not to be planning on the road..
The
Renault Thalia will be offered with two engines with same capacity 1,4
l, first 8-valves engine having performance of 75 hp and second 16-valves
engine having really unusual performance of 98 hp. Unfortunately,
Renault does not think about any version with diesel engine in future. A cake cherry would be very precise
steel part treatment and their guaranty against corrosion. Thanks to
this Renault can allow to offer a the 12years guaranty against corrosion. Sale of this new model will be officially started in the Czech Republic on March this year.
