      The only bodywork was missing in the Mégane model line. A break.

      We have already mentioned in August that Mégane family is expecting another member. We have published just recently still secret design of new Mégane models. We would like to introduce today a model, which production is going to start at the beginning of March in Bursa, Turkey. Renault had not have any model in this part of the market until now, although the other parts were covered very well by other models like Kangoo, Scénic, Laguna Nevada and Espace. Mégane is an European best-seller in the lower middle class at the moment thanks to six types of the bodywork: hatchback, sedan, coupé, cabrio, MPV. The seventh type - a break - is coming soon.

      A new model, named Estate, was developed within 22 months for 245,000,000 FRF. New Mégane Estate was already born with a new look, which is going to be applied on also other Mégane models. Estate differs for the first sight from the other cars by the front part of a car. Characteristic aggressive front is now of a new, more "modest" shape. The body is new, with integrated aperture for air inlet to the engine. It will have - alike bigger Laguna - free form type headlamps, which allow use of the light provided by traditional halogen lightbulbs. From RXE model double headlamps with separated dimmed light and main beam will be in use. The front bumper is going to be changed at the same way as on Laguna. A bumper in the body color will equip all versions. Round free form fog headlamps will be a standard equipment of some versions, on order only of other ones.

New Mégane will be produced with 5 different engines - three petrol ones
and two types of diesel.

Diesel Engines

1,9 d 65 Hp
1,9 dTi 100 Hp

1,4 16V engine is brand new in Renault. It is derived from a well known 1,6 16V engine, which was introduced in Laguna model in April 1998. The torque comes at 3750 rpm. CO2 emissions and the consumption should be - according to Renault - the lowest in its class.

Mégane Estate will use, with its 4,41 m length, the longest family chassis group. The most important part of every break is its luggage department. While rear seats fold, there is 1,68 m of a load space, where you can place up to 1,6 m3 of load.
