MÉGANE

was presented as a "Super car for living" on the Paris
Motor Show in 1988. Mégane is a very long, luxurious and comfortable 4-seater limousine.
Both the external and internal mobility was characteristic for this car. The prototype was
really interlarded by technical specialities like, for example, movable rear seats
allowing to get another 35 cm of space. The floor of luggage department was sliding in
order to allow easier manipulation with luggage. All of its windows, doors and seats were
electrically operated, driver's seat adjust was memorised for easier adjust when drivers
change. Mégane was built on a futuristic chassis with all 4 wheels driven and steered.
The suspension was electronically auto-adaptive and regulated depending on the driving
speed and road surface. The gearbox could operate both in a manual or automatic mode. V6
Turbo PRV engine gave it 250 Hp output -- more than enough if we think of an extremely
low coefficient of the aerodynamic drag -- Cx 0,21 -- 0,22 (depending on the rear
section of the cabin). The maximum speed of the car easily broke the magic bordercara of
250 km/h.
