Pangea
moving laboratory
Prototype Pangea (in Greek it means "whole Earth") was
created in 1997 in co-operation of Renault and Philips Corporate Design. The car is
equipped by hybrid power system: electicity -- PB. In other words, the car is powered by
electric current from acumulators or from alternator powered by propan-butan. It is
possible to use both of the systems at once in the need of a higher performance. Pangea
reaches extreme low level of imission and minimally damages the living environment thanks
to this hybrid powering. Pangea, as a terrain car for the work in terrain, has four driven
wheels.

Inbuilt laboratory is inside of
the prototype as well as transmission systems working in real time and modern
telecomunication technology. The car is outside equipped by a satellite allowing data
transmission, indicators of temperature, relative humidity, air as well as by other
devices monitoring the environment the car is currently in. A camera offering a 360
degrees view angle is in the tower of the prototype.
